Montari — Privacy Policy

Montari ("the app") is operated by Montari s. r. o. ("we"), a company incorporated in the Slovak Republic. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what your rights are.

What we collect

Account data. When you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier and — if you choose to share it — your name and e-mail (Apple may provide a private relay address). You also choose a username.

Your content. The topics you type and the study decks generated from them, including your edits. AI-generated study material may be cached and reused to serve identical topics faster; this cache never contains your name, e-mail, username, or edits.

Learning progress. Review history and scheduling data (which cards you studied, how you rated them, and when the app should show them again), so the app can plan your reviews and sync them to your account.

Study activity. A record of each practice session you finish — which deck, which mode and question format, how many questions, how many you got right, and how long it took — together with the memory score the app calculates from your review history. These figures are computed on your device and sent to your account so your progress survives a reinstall or a new phone, and so we can see how the app is actually used and improve it.

App usage. How long the app is open, which ready-made decks you download from Explore, and which starter decks you pick during setup. We use this to understand what works and what to build next.

Purchase state. If you subscribe or buy credits, we receive purchase receipts from Apple to activate your plan. We never see your payment details — payments are processed entirely by Apple.

Device data. A device identifier used to link your decks to your account before you sign in, and basic diagnostics if you opt in to Apple's crash reporting.

What we do NOT collect: no advertising identifiers, no location, no contacts, no tracking across other apps or websites. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not use it to target ads. There are no ads.

The study activity and usage data above is linked to your account so that it can follow you between devices and so we can support you when something goes wrong. It is used to run and improve Montari — nothing more.

How generation works (third-party processors)

When you create a deck, the topic you typed is processed on our servers (hosted in the EU by Hetzner) and sent to AI service providers to research and write the content — currently Anthropic (text generation), Perplexity (research), and image services (image generation and image search). These providers process the topic text only as needed to generate your deck; they do not receive your name, e-mail, or account identity.

Images in decks may be sourced from the public web (e.g. Wikimedia Commons and image search) for personal study use. If you believe an image infringes rights, use "Report this image" in the app or contact us.

Retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account directly in the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account) — this permanently removes your account, decks, and progress from our servers. You can also request deletion by e-mail.

Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Contact us at support@montari.ai for any request.

Children

Montari is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children below this age.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy here and update the effective date. Material changes will be announced in the app.
